The Stand is a spacious and accessible basement venue in central Newcastle. IMAGES BELOW

METROS: Monument is closest, a 3 min walk down Grey Street. Central Station is 5 to 6 mins route through Pudding Chare and Bigg Market.

LOCATION: You'll find The Stand Comedy Club just off Grey Street (not far from the Theatre Royal) and down 'Highbridge'' the cobbled lane (that has Blakes cafe and an art shop on the corner). Or if you're coming from the Bigg Market, it's the lane with the Beehive pub on the corner. The Stand is halfway down the Highbridge lane, opposite the Duke of Wellington pub.

GROUND FLOOR ENTRANCE: The Stand's entrance is through its ground-floor cafe-bar (with a staircase down to the venue). There is an ‘accessible lift’ for those with mobility issues situated at the rear of the café-bar on the lovely undercover terrace. The friendly Stand staff and our volunteers will be there to welcome you and show you down to the venue. Note: the cafe bar is ours for the day and closed to other visitors.

BASEMENT VENUE:  Downstairs, there is a lobby and box office area, with a stepped entrance to the venue, and also a ramp. Inside, it is laid out with chairs and tables cabaret style, with some bench and high stool seating, and a mezzanine level running along the back. There is a large bar area where we will serve the free refreshments from.

TOILETS: There are two accessible toilets in the Stand: One in the basement venue and one on the ground floor in the cafe bar.  There are plenty of standard toilets leading from the basement lobby area.

WHEELCHAIR USER TICKETS: Please select 'Wheelchair user Ticket' when you book. This will help us to arrange the seating to accommodate more space for you and members of your group booking.

HEARING LOOP ZONE & TICKETS:  a T-Loop will be installed in an accessible area (i.e. Not the mezzanine level). To sit in this zone, please select the 'Hearing Loop Ticket'. If there are others in your group booking who do not require the loop we will arrange the seating so they can sit with you.

BSL VIEW & TICKETS: The show will be interpreted. To sit in clear view of the interpreter please select 'Near BSL Ticket'. We will also arrange the seating so members of your group booking can sit with you.
