PRICING

This page explains School of Improv pricing, including our tiered pricing model, courses, classes, passes and the booking and cancellation policies that apply to them.

HOW OUR PRICING WORKS

As a charity, we want the School of Improv to be accessible while keeping our programme sustainable.

For this reason, we offer two price levels for classes. Supported places are made possible through Boho Arts and participants paying the Standard Price, helping people with limited means take part.

We trust our community to choose honestly based on their current circumstances.

📍STANDARD PRICE

Paying the Standard Price helps us maintain an accessible and sustainable programme.

Please choose the Standard Price if most of the following apply to you:

  • You are in stable employment or comfortably self-employed

  • You are able to meet your basic needs (housing, food, transport)

  • You have a fair amount disposable income for leisure activities

  • You have access to savings or financial support

  • Paying the Standard Price would not cause financial stress

📌 SUPPORTED PRICE

Supported places are subsidised by Boho Arts and participants paying the standard price.

They are intended for participants who would otherwise find it difficult to attend. You may choose the Supported Price if several of the following apply:

  • You are unemployed or under-employed

  • Your income is low, irregular, or uncertain

  • You rely on benefits or financial support

  • You frequently worry about meeting basic needs (housing, food, transport)

  • You have low and limited disposable income for leisure activities

  • Paying the standard price would cause you financial stress

PROGRAMME INFORMATION

Prices effective from 6th April 2026

Weekly classes run for 2¼ hours with a typical maximum capacity of 12 participants.

Reminder emails are sent at 1pm the day before.

Prices, duration and capacities may differ for improv intensives and special workshops added to the programme from time to time.

MANAGING YOUR BOOKINGS

Our booking system is self-service, meaning you can log in to your booking account at any time to cancel or transfer your class. Changes made within the relevant timeframes are applied automatically.

WAITING LISTS

If a class or course is full, or still at pre-booking stage, you may join the waiting list when the button appears on the event. When places become available, they are automatically offered to people on the waiting list in order.

BEGINNERS COURSES

Our School of Improv programme begins at Level 1 with a structured Beginners Course.

Courses ensure participants build a strong foundation in the core principles of improvisation and an understanding of our approach and community values before moving on to intermediate classes should they wish to continue their journey.

Each course runs over 6 weekly classes and is booked as a complete programme. Places are limited and the group learning journey builds week by week.

6 Week Beginners Course Prices:

Standard Price: £150

Supported Price: £120

Course Cancellation Policy: If you cancel 7 days or more before the course starts, your booking is refundable (less a 5% admin fee) or transferable to another course (subject to availability). If you cancel 24 hours or more before the course starts, we may offer up to a 50% credit or a transfer to another course (subject to availability). After the 24-hour cancellation window has passed, bookings are considered committed and are not eligible for refund, credit, or transfer unless we are able to fill your place from the waiting list at short notice. In which case, we may offer a credit or transfer at our discretion. However, we want everyone to feel comfortable that the course is right for them. If, after attending the first class, you feel the course is not right for you, please email us within 48 hours and we will refund the remaining sessions. This notice helps us offer the place to someone on the waiting list in time to join the course from week two. There are no refunds, credits, or transfers for missed classes within a course. If missing a session is unavoidable, we’ll help you catch up so you can continue with the group. All eligible refunds, credits, and transfers must be requested by email and are processed manually. If we need to cancel or change a class due to circumstances beyond our control, we will offer an appropriate transfer, credit, or refund.

TASTER CLASSES

Every 6 weeks or so we deliver Taster Classes, typically preceding the next Beginners block

Tasters are aimed at Beginners level and provide a sense of our approach prior to booking a full course.

They are also suitable for people who may have experience from elsewhere to try a class with us to see if an intermediate level may be a more suitable starting point.

Taster Class Prices

Standard Price: £15

Supported Price: £12

If you decide to continue onto the Beginners Course, the cost of your Taster (£15/£12) will be credited towards the course fee.

Taster Cancellation Policy: You can log-in to your profile and automatically transfer your taster to another taster once (if there is one available) within the next 60 days with as little as 4-hours-notice. Tasters cancelled with at least 24-hours-notice may receive a 50% credit on a future taster. Credits are created manually and need to be requested by email.  If you provide no advance warning and don't show up to the Taster, you may be unable to book a taster in the future.

WEEKLY CLASSES

Levels 2 to 4 - Improvers, Headway, Ensemble

After completing the Beginners Course, participants can continue developing their skills through our weekly improv classes

To ensure a good learning experience, classes normally run with at least 6 participants booked in advance.

If a class has fewer than 6 bookings, we may merge it with another class of a similar level where possible. If this is not possible, we may provide notice that the class will be postponed or cancelled, and we will offer a transfer or credit.

STANDBY TICKETS

Occasionally we release Standby Tickets for a class when there are still spaces available close to the start time. These places help us fill spare spots and keep classes lively and well balanced.

When available, Standbys usually appear on the day of the class a few hours beforehand.

They are typically priced at the same level as our Taster Classes (£15 / £12).

No refunds, credits or transfers on Standbys.

CLASS PASSES

Available from Level 2 onwards

Passes offer discounted rates and flexible booking across multiple classes.

We encourage regular students to book their classes with a pass.

With a pass, you purchase several class credits and have 60 days to use them. This is around 9 weeks of class opportunities, allowing plenty of flexibility to miss the occasional week if needed.

You must book at least one class ticket at the time of purchasing your pass. The pass duration starts from the first class you book, and each class credit gets used up accordingly.

You're also able to transfer one class to another (4hrs) or cancel classes (24hrs) and retain your credits within the timeframes.

Choose the pass that works best for your commitments and be aware of any upcoming breaks in our programme (for example during holiday seasons).

Standard Price / Supported Rate Pass Prices:

6 Class Pass: £144 / £118 (most popular)

5 Class Pass: £128 / £104

4 Class Pass: £107 / £85

3 Class Pass: £84 / £66

12 Class Pass: £282 / £230 (for avid students!)

(Drop-in classes bought individually without a pass cost £30/£24 each)

Passholder Cancellation Policy: Passholders who cancel a class ticket at least 24 hours before the class start time retain the class credit, allowing you to book another class before your pass expires. If something unexpected comes up, you may transfer your class ticket to another class as long as the transfer is made at least 4 hours before your booked class starts. Each class ticket may only be transferred once. After these cancellation timeframes the class credits will be counted as used. Pass validity is based on calendar days rather than the number of classes attended. Unused pass credits cannot be rolled over past the expiry date, and passes cannot be extended, so please make sure you’re able to attend frequently before purchasing. Passes are intended for the passholder's personal use. On request, we may occasionally allow another named attendee to take a class in your place. You must not give your place to another student without prior confirmation from us.

SINGLE CLASSES (booked without a pass)

Drop-in Single Classes may be booked from Level 2 onwards

Note, these do not have the same flexibility of classes booked with a pass

'Drop-in' Single Class Prices

Standard Price: £30

Supported Price: £24

Single Class Cancellation Policy: You may automatically transfer your class once to another available class being held within the next 60 days with as little as 4-hours-notice. You can cancel your class 24 hours before, but there are no automatic credits for cancellations (as there are with passes). On request, we may provide a 50% credit if the place is filled from the waiting list. Single Class Credits are processed manually, and you need to contact us with your request. On request, we may allow another named attendee to take your place. You must not give your place to another student without prior confirmation from us.
